Hawaii Office Centers (HOC)

Where "Hawaiian Time" is an Actual Time Zone.

the skinny

HOC was a well loved workspace, and business community, located in Downtown Honolulu's Chinatown District.

It has changed hands (and names) many times and at the time of our involvement, we were challenged to take on a shared workspace and coworking business that was hemorrhaging money; and plagued with vacancy.

Our solution: Give the place a facelift.

The space and guts were solid, but the existing brand lacked culture and there were ways to make the business more automated and efficient; that would ultimately lead to cutting costs by 40%.

The logo, website and social media platforms were redesigned and activated to better reflect the unique "Hawaiian Shirt" business culture found in Hawaii. In turn, we also celebrated this culture and community by throwing "Pau Hanas" to bring our community members, traveling business types, and various partners together.

how it's going...

After taking over the business, rebranding, etc. etc., HOC revenue grew by 30% month over month. Now with vacancies eliminated and a growing waitlist, we began to expand and develop 2 new locations in the Downtown Honolulu area. The new spaces were designed with help from local partners and architects; and were outfitted to support the fine artist and creative communities.

The pandemic hit this sector very hard and Hawaii's lockdowns made for unprecedented challenges in keeping HOC afloat and relevant. The company pivoted to focus on virtual and "at home" offerings, along with a focus on safely supporting the existing members and businesses.

The business was later sold in 2021 to a local shareholder who expanded on our (previously established )off-shoot brand: "HQ".
